We first met Ms. Sherry when she taught music at our son’s preschool. At that time, a friend gave us a piano and our shy son exclaimed, “I want to take piano lessons and I want to take them from Ms. Sherry.” She inspired him to take up the piano and he has not stopped since. Our younger daughter followed in the same footsteps and both children still have the same passion as when we started with Ms. Sherry, 6 years ago.
Their passion is fueled by Ms. Sherry’s teaching. Ms. Sherry does not just teach piano, she teaches the whole child and is adept at meeting her students’ needs at every stage of their development. She gets to know her students and their interests and uses stories, games, and substitutes other instruments, such as drums, to help develop rhythm and music theory. Ms. Sherry is an exceptional educator and our children have been so motivated to learn that we have never had to ask them to practice the piano. This is the second year our family has been taking piano lessons from Sherry and Heart and Soul Music. My daughter was 4 when she began and Sherry immediately sensed what style was best for her to learn. Sherry’s passion and exceptional adaptation skills allow her to work with any age and style. My son is now 7 and absolutely loves it.
My husband always wanted to play but is not interested in learning to read music so she took on the challenge of teaching him chords. I am completely amazed at the beautiful music he can play now. We even bought a baby grand piano! Sherry has not only taught our family to play the piano, but has instilled the love of music through singing, song writing, musical games and unending patience.
Time has passed since we first started piano lessons with Sherry at Heart and Soul Music and the music plays on! Our 2 kids have grown from toddlers to teenagers and Sherry has remained patient and enthusiastic through our highs and lows.
